Importance of Tawaf, Ihram, Safa and Marwah and Talal-ul

The Importance of Tawaf, Ihram, Safa and Marwah during Hajj and Umrah. Both the holy rituals are almost alike since the basic premise behind both the rituals is to please the only Creator of the entire world. Hajj is mandatory and is the fifth pillar of Islam that would performed on the 8th of Zill-Hajj ending up at 12th of Zill-Hajj. On a flip Umrah is a non-mandatory holy action that can be performed all around the year at any time. The event of Hajj takes place at the end of the lunar Calendar, Zill-Hajj. But for the deliverance of Umrah, a Muslim don’t have to wait and can enact the action whenever he wants.

Hajj and Umrah comprises certain sacraments but Hajj encompasses more rituals than Umrah since Hajj is done before Eid-al-Adha and before Eid and at the occasion of Eid, Muslims offer certain other rituals. Ihram, Tawaf, Sa’ai, drinking ZamZam water, shaving/cutting of head (Halq & Taqsir) are the sacraments of both Hajj and Umrah and the pilgrims must perform these rituals both for Hajj and Best discounted Umrah packages . Despite of it, on Hajj, Muslims spend time in Mina, Muzdalifa, and Arafat, throw stones on the Devil, and on the day of Eid Muslims slaughter their animals.

Pillars of Islam:

Pillars of Islam include the wearing of Ihram which means getting into a state where enaction of certain actions is prohibited. Ihram not merely means the wearing of white clothes. Rather, it signifies that you are truly in a state what Allah Almighty commands you to be in. It’s the state where you are utterly under the obedience of your Lord. Ihram is assume at the Meeqat. Getting into the state of Ihram absolutely teaches us that in this world, we are sent to obey our Creator’s commands.

Once you worn Ihram, certain permissible acts become unprohibited which as if you done normally then it’s normal but if you enact those certain acts in the state of Ihram, then those acts are considered to be the sins since these are not Halal with Ihram. These actions include cutting of nails, cutting/removing hairs from body, stitched clothing, sexual intercourse, hunting animals, using perfumes, covering of ankle and back of the foot, and veiling faces except eyes (this prohibition is solely for women that women must cover their faces in the state of Ihram).

Hajj and Umrah are the acts that you just undertake to praise and please Allah SWT with pure intention, seeking Jannah and seeking forgiveness. The state of Ihram gives you a lesson nothing is more valuable than Allah’s command and if He SWT forbids you then it’s a compulsion to thwart doing that act. And in Ihram, pilgrims do the same that they don’t even undertake those acts which are common in normal and it’s just to lay emphasis on an aspect that if Allah  said you to dodge something though it’s right, then you must dodge that very right. Muslims always must respond upon His one call.

After getting into the state of Ihram

After getting into the state of Ihram, pilgrims commence doing Tawaf. Tawaf is the rite in which pilgrims circumambulate the Holy Kabah seven times in anti-clockwise direction. The sacrament gives a lesson of being humble, adjustable, sacrificing, cooperating and helping your brothers and sisters. And especially at the holiest place of the whole world, you must be an example of Allah’s loveliest creation.

Moving around the Kabah unitedly along with your Muslim brothers and sisters is an act of obedience. That all the Muslims from all over the world gather at a single place. Just to serve their Lord despite of any discrimination among them. Regarding caste, complexion, status or beauty. They all gather for a solo purpose at a single place on a specific time. Lived together without being known to each other just for the sake of their Maker.

Sa’ai next step of Umrah, it is obligatory to run back and forth seven times between the Safa and Marwah. The Muslims are performing this rite in the remembrance of Bibi Hajra. Who in search of water for her son Ismail ran there. The act became mandatory when Hazrat Ibrahim left Bibi Hajra and their son Ismail under the tree with water skin and few provisions, in Makkah. Radically, Bibi Hajra was loath but then she became satisfied after putting her trust in Allah.

When Bibi Hajra could no longer produce milk and so thus Ismail was just near to death. Then Bibi Hajra climbed the hills of Safa and Marwah and ran between the hills seven times desperately. After returning, she heard the voice of Hazrat Jibril (A.S) who was bringing forth water by scratching the ground. Bibi Hajra then immediately drank water and would become able to feed her son. On that spot, Hazrat Jibril (A.S) ensured Bibi Hajra. That one day Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail would build the house of Allah SWT at that very location. Safa is one of the hills of Sa’ai and the person standing on this hill comes parallel to the Hajra Aswad. Marwah is a mountain in Makkah that was name after a white glittering stone. Muslims run between these two hills to perform Sa’ai.

Tahal-ul is the disbanding of Ihram. Ending the state of Ihram means that pilgrims come into a state of Tahal-ul. After the performance of Hajj’s or Umrah’s rituals. Pilgrims dissolute the Ihram which means they are no more under the command. In the state of Ihram, again the actions like cutting of hairs/nails, sexual activity, hunting animals become lawful. When you worn out your Ihram and comes in the state of Tahal-ul, you are not able to perform Hajj or Umrah anymore since Ihram is a compulsion to commence performing the rituals.

Each ritual of Hajj and Umrah has its own significance and those rituals teach pilgrims the lesson. Which if they follow in their lives, they will certainly find themselves in Jannah on the Day of Judgement. All the actions enacted during Hajj or Umrah is to seek Allah’s mercy. Praise Him, seek forgiveness, and ultimately to serve their Lord in the best means though. He is superior over the entire world and doesn’t need our servings. Indeed! He is the most Bountiful and Merciful.
